Matthew 24:12
“And because of the increase in lawlessness, the love of many shall become cold.”

Most people think this lack of love is how people treat one another.
There may be some truth in this idea, but it doesn’t fully define the meaning of this statement by Yeshua Messiah.

Consider these verses:
Deuteronomy 13
“…for יהוה your Elohim is testing you to know whether you love יהוה your Elohim with all your heart and with all your being. Walk after יהוה your Elohim and fear Him, and guard His commands and obey His voice, and serve Him and cling to Him.”

John 14
15 “If you love Me, you shall guard My commands.”
21“He who keeps My commands and guards them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me shall be loved by My Father, and I shall love him and manifest Myself to him.”

John 15
“If you guard My commands, you shall stay in My love even as I have guarded My Father’s commands and stay in His love.”

1John 5
By this we know that we love the children of Elohim, when we love Elohim and guard His commands. For this is the love for Elohim, that we guard His commands, and His commands are not heavy.

A lack of obedience to the commands of the God of the bible is what Matthew 24:12 is referring to.
1John 5 specifically tells us that not following God’s commands results in us having a lack of love for our fellow man.

There are many more scriptures that show us obedience equals love in the eyes of Yahweh and Messiah.
