The Golden Calf of Jesus

A concept my wife brought up:
Is the golden calf of Exodus the same as a false idea of who Jesus is?

I was taught in the church that Aaron made a golden calf as an idol to worship, having nothing to do with YHVH.
If I read that story for myself, I see that the people thought Moses had died. They created the golden calf as a means of worshipping YHVH. Yes, they had good intentions.
What was the end result? YHVH did not like it, even though the people were trying…
YHVH wants us to worship Him just as He said. We are not to make up our own ways.

Fast forward to the era of Messiah.
We are to have faith in Yeshua. He is the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Him.
All true.
But we have to know who He is (per scripture) in order to have faith in Him.
What if we’ve been taught a concept of Jesus that does not match the Messiah in scripture?? Then we have put our faith into something that is not real.
It is the exact same thing as worshipping the golden calf with good intentions.
YHVH will reject this faulty worship.

Matthew 7:21-23
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord!’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in Your name, and drive out demons in Your name, and perform many miracles in Your name?’ 23 Then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you. Get away from Me, you workers of lawlessness!’”

Yeshua (Jesus) Himself tells us we will not enter the Kingdom of heaven by calling His name, but that we must do the will of the Father.
If we listen to what Yeshua said and do exactly that, then we will be doing the will of the Father.

Verse 23 says:
Depart from me, you who do lawlessness.

Is this important?
Yes, I think it is…

Do you know Yeshua, our Messiah?
Or do you know the golden calf version of Jesus?
Please study and pray about this.

It matters.
