We are all busy, but do you have sixty seconds?
Do you have just one minute?
We all pray.
In one way or another, we all pray at some point.
Some pray very much.
Some pray very little.
Even atheists are known to pray in times of absolute need.
When extreme crisis occurs, we give up the decisions we’ve made as men and women and revert to instinct.
We revert to what we know is true at the core of our being.
Romans 1:18-21 tells us that we know of Him, even if we reject Him:
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
When we pray, will He always answer?
Sometimes, we do not get the answers we seek.
Some get frustrated and give up.
Some say it was just not the will of God to answer this prayer in the way we had hoped.
But is there more to it?
Is there anything in scripture that might give us insight to unanswered prayers?
Proverbs 28:9
One who turns his ear from hearing Torah —even his prayer is an abomination. (Tree of Life Version)
He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination. (King James Version)
If anyone turns a deaf ear to my instruction, even their prayers are detestable. (NIV)
God cannot stand the prayers of anyone who disobeys his Law. (CEV)
Even the watered down ‘The Message’ version gets this somewhat right:
God has no use for the prayers of the people who won’t listen to him.
Scripture tells us if we turn away from His law, His instructions, His commands, His Torah – then our prayers are an abomination to Him.
If you have unanswered prayers, please think about these things.
The general mainstream Christian doctrine tells us the law is done away with.
Scripture says otherwise…
