Be careful to study scripture regarding the things you believe and support…
Debate with men on various topics is a good thing, as iron sharpens iron.
Proverbs 27:17
As iron sharpens iron,
So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.
Most people have heard the phrase ‘iron sharpens iron’ —but please do not forget the second half of this verse.
Discussion of scripture occurs between and among friends.
Be kind to others as you debate and discuss.
But in the end, be sure to adhere to scripture and not the traditions of man.
Sometimes scripture is not definitive, and we have to rely on this future promise:
Revelation 10:7
“but in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he is about to sound, then is finished the mystery of God, according to the good tidings which he declared to his servants the prophets.”
I have great hope in knowing that one day, we will all understand. There will be no debate or discussion, interpretation or speculation. All will be settled and known. Until then, be careful, study, pray, and discuss scripture with a heart for the truth. But do so with kindness and respect.
However, if an idea or doctrine is presented to you and it does not line up with scripture, it is to be rejected.
Be careful. There were many wolves in the church, and there are wolves in the Torah observant groups.
Sometimes, a wolf does not know they are a wolf.
Take time to present your thoughts so that you are not a wolf.
Do not forget this:
Deuteronomy 4:2
You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.
and this:
Deuteronomy 12:32
“Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it.
